Bury Town tasted defeat for the first time this season when Brightlingsea Regent won 2-1 in a hotly contested match on Saturday. The Blues went in front thanks to a well worked goal with Noel Aitkens finishing a fine move. Brightlingsea drew level through prolific striker Aaron Condon before the same player put away a rather harsh penalty just before the break.

The second half saw Bury have the better of the play but they could not find away through, probably the best chance falling to Darren Mills in injury time but Harry Reynolds in the Regent goal saved down low at the far post. Overall it was another good work out for Ben Chenery's side with the final score of little importance after the final whistle.

Bury continue their pre-season friendlies with a visit from Ipwich Town Under 23's on Wednesday evening, with an earlier kick off time of 7:30pm.
