Blues win opener at Hadleigh

Bury Town opened their pre-season account with a 7-0 win at Hadleigh United in a match that was played for the annual Hadleigh Charity Cup, which was presented to Leon Ottley-Gooch after the game. Darren Mills opened the scoring from the penalty spot after he was brought down inside the area, and Darcy De'ath added a second with his head. The returning Cemal Ramadan, who was last season with Soham Town Rangers and Cambridge City scored the Blues third before half time.

The second half saw a complete turn around with 11 changes for Ben Chenery's side but the pattern of play continued and Joe Chalk added a 4th goal from distance. George Day then added a 5th and 6th goal for the away side before former Bedworth United and Nuneaton player Simeon Williams added a 7th and final goal shortly before the whistle.

Manager Ben Chenery was pleased with his sides first performance although the scoreline holds little relevance to him, and he will take his side to another Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side on Saturday, Ipswich Wanderers, at Humber Doucy Land at 3pm.
